Minutes September 9, 2007 The September 9, 2007 meeting of the Richmond Area Daylily Society, held at the Flower Show:
Paulette Miller said it was the best show ever! We made lots of money
and had lots of beautiful daylilies. After expenses, we cleared approximately
$4,000. Lewis Ginter Plant Fall Banquet: Our annual Fall Banquet will be held October
13, 6:00 p.m. at the Omni. We will enjoy a buffet dinner and Jamie Gossard will
be our guest speaker and Kevin Walek will be our guest. RADS’ 2008 Regional: Our upcoming Regional will be held the 3rd weekend of June, 2008. Paulette gave us an overview. Vicki Scheffler volunteered
to help Judy Durant with the Hospitality Room. Treasurer: Paul Compton was absent, and Paulette presented his report, a copy of which is attached to
these Minutes. A Motion was made to accept the report. Elections:
We were reminded by Shirley Shelton that elections are upcoming in November.
A Nominating Committee, consisting of volunteers Michael Miller, Joan Jackson and Carol Quigley was formed. The Committee will meet and let the Club know as soon as possible the proposed slate of officers. Plants for Members: Shirley Shelton also reminded the group
that Committee Members shall be voted on each year from Volunteers at the November meeting or who have turned in notice of
being interested in serving on such Committee. Page 59, Article VI-Standing Committee,
Section 5. Consequently, please let the Club know in writing if you are interested
so we can vote on the Committee Members at the November meeting. There was a discussion concerning how this committee operates including the fact that all Plants for Members
plants are currently in tour gardens for the upcoming Regional, and it would be best not to move them at this time. Club Book Committee: You will find the updated Club Book on line. A Motion was made that if you want to make any changes to the By Laws you must present it to the club and then discuss
and vote upon the changes at a future meeting. After much discussion, members
were reminded this is currently the policy stated in the By Laws, and the Motion was withdrawn. Announcements: Richard Nunnally will be our guest speaker at our November meeting. ***Ask Michael:
Michael Miller said that Region 3 hybridizers will be presenting a slide show at Lilyhemmer. Club members can put in up to 5 seedling slides and 08 seedlings. Paulette will be placing the At 2:30, Michael Miller made a Motion to adjourn the business portion of the meeting.
The Motion was seconded and passed. Club members participated in a lively daylily Auction, and we all gave thanks to David Metzger for growing the wonderful
plants. The meeting adjourned at 3:10 p.m.
