URGENT APPEAL!  WE NEED YOUR HELP!

WE ARE FAST RUNNING OUT OF ROOM ON OUR TEMPORARY WEBSITE.
In addition to providing resources for the worldwide unification of all Scholastic Thomists, we hope to host the one and only online (or even 'incarnate') Scholastic Library.  Most of our books will be in .pdf format making the whole collection several gigabytes too many!  To help us with our endeavors please contribute to the cost of a permanent website.  Information will be given in the next several days about how you can help.

The Society's Official Seal of Endorsement
Introducing the Society of Schoolmen's Seal of Approval

“Ad Mentem Thomae” was a once common literary expression in the writings of Thomistic philosophers.  It meant that those philosophers ascribed completely and adhered intellectually to the philosophic thought of St. Thomas—“to the mind of Thomas”.  Though the works preceded by these words were never as error-free as the mind of Thomas himself, their authors humbly deferred to the Expositor in all questionable matters.  Theirs were not works of novelty or vainglory.  Indeed, they realized that there have been far greater thinkers than themselves who knew far better what Thomas wrote.  These authors realized that Thomism does not begin and die with one’s own professional career, but must be referred to far greater Thomists along an aged and powerful line of accumulated wisdom leading, ultimately, to the mind of Thomas himself: AD MENTEM THOMAE.

The Society of Schoolmen is now resurrecting the phrase “Ad Mentem Thomae” and we have incorporated it into our new Seal of Approval.

The AMT Seal is our way of personally backing a literary work or Scholastic project.

Wherever you see this symbol you can rest assured that the Society has thoroughly reviewed the work and that it reflects our highest ideals of Thomism.
