First
founded among the students of the Roman Pontifical Universities,
the
Society of Scholastics is a union of philosophers brought together by fidelity to the principles, methods, and doctrines
of Thomas Aquinas, Prince of Scholastics, which we hold inviolate, in order that, by association, we may promote the
autonomous rights of philosophy as the highest and most universal science investigable by reason alone—a science which
is not simply a handmaiden of theology nor a mere apologetic tool—and, thus, work for the reconciliation
of philosophy with the partial sciences.
The Society boasts a growing international membership. We are graced with the participation
of philosophers from the United States, England, Italy, Spain, the Czech Republic,
and even Iraq. All these members will soon have their names and contact points compiled into
the INDEX THOMISTARUM; an ambitious project exclusively for the use of our members that will unite all the
scattered students of Scholastic Thomism the world over.
On this page, we will soon be posting the names and backgrounds of the four superiors
of the Societas Scholasticorum: the President General, the Vice President General, the Secretary General, and the Treasurer
General.
