In 1937, George and Marion Lewis became the owners of the Minshall House. Over the course of the next three decades,
the house was no longer occupied, and in 1974 it was slated for demolition. However, community support for preserving
the house led Marion Lewis to deed the house to the citizens of Media in memory of her late husband. Thanks to the community
effort, especially from the teachers and students at Media Elementary School, the house was brought back to life.

and accessories were donated to the Minshall House, completing the picture of the past.
Today, the Minshall House is available for all who wish to step back and enjoy a view into
history.

Located at the intersection of Providence Road and Front Street, the house has had many owners, and many different functions
and configurations. An earlier log frame structure built by Isaac Minshall no longer exists, however the standing field
stone house built by Thomas Nuzum dates from circa 1750. During the early nineteenth century, the house was owned by
a blacksmith and later in its history was also used as a store.

In May of 1975, on the 125th Anniversary of the Borough of Media, the newly restored Minshall House was opened to the
public as a historic house museum. A dwelling room with a large fireplace occupies the first
