To Raise A Flag
Today at 6 pm, I’ll have the solemn honor and privilege of helping to raise our nation’s flag at the Town Hall in Bowdoinham. The ceremony will be led by the American Legion and will commemorate the sacrifices
of the millions of men and women who have served in our armed forces, as well as those who died five years ago this morning. All are welcome at the event.
My grandfather, William Sperl, was a Captain in the machine gun artillery at the front lines of World War II. A son of German and Scottish immigrants, William fought in the Battle of the Bulge: the battle depicted at the end of Saving Private Ryan. Three-quarters
of his platoon were killed, including many of his closest comrades. Yet the battle was won, and Hitler’s massive offensive
finally turned back.
Today of all days, let us not confuse the war with the warriors. It is not
unpatriotic to support the troops, but not their commander. Let us leave the politics of fear at the bottom
of the hill, and together, raise a flag that stands for equality, for dignity, and for freedom.
Yours for tomorrow,
Seth

Note: most states have major budget shortfalls. Those that do not are largely states with strong fossil

As your State Representative, I use this site as another way to keep
