Moving Maine Forward – Putting People First

As legislator, my goal is to work with commitment, compassion and common sense to protect and improve our future.  I am working hard to ensure:

1. Jobs, Jobs, Jobs

Investing in businesses, innovation and Maine’s future workforce

·        Focus on small, family-owned businesses

·        Build on the unique skills, resources and heritage of our region

·        Support education to prepare Maine’s future citizens, workers, and leaders

2. Affordable Health Care

Increasing access to quality health care for every Mainer

·        Administer the Dirigo Choice program publicly

·        Broaden the risk pool to ensure affordability

·        Move toward universal coverage & collective buying power

3. Responsible Fiscal Management

Weathering the D.C. deficit without losing the farm

·        Fix the leaky roof:   Cut costs only where long-term savings will result

·        Face the forecast:  aging population, federal shortfalls, & rising oil costs

·        Invest in energy conservation and renewable, local energy sources

4. Strong Families and Communities

Protecting consumers, workers and families

·        Guarantee public health and basic consumer protections

·        Ensure equal rights and treatment under law

·        Educate and empower our most vulnerable citizens

5. A Healthy Natural Heritage

Preserving quality of life and access to healthy woods and clean waters

·        Minimize the contamination of our air, soil and waters

·        Assist communities in quality planning and codes enforcement

·        Ensure sustainable access to conservation land
