Procedure for Commissioning a Painting
Commissioning a painting can be a wonderful event. I look forward to working with you to create a painting
that you will treasure for years to come.
Once started, normal completion time is 2 to 4 weeks, depending on the complexity of the image. However,
frequently there is a waiting list. To reserve your place in line, a small deposit is requested. Whenever possible,
I will make every effort to accommodate special dates.
-
Call to arrange a consultation.
-
During the consultation we will discuss size, price, time frame, and your expectations for the finished painting.
So prior to calling give some thought to these items.
-
I always work from photos. If the painting is of an animal, I require a photo of the animal in
the pose you wish to have painted. And obviously, the facial features must be clearly visible. If the painting
is to be of a structure such as your church or your home, I need to have a photo taken at the angle or view you wish to have
painted. If you live near Richmond, Va. I will be happy to photograph your home for you. I do not offer
this service for photographing animals.
-
When we have agreed upon all the elements, size, framing(if any), which photo to use and price, a nonrefundable
deposit of one third is required. Final payment is due upon completion.
If your painting is of a pet----------------------------------------------------
If your dog or cat is a from a rescue organization or from a no-kill SPCA, after we agree on a price please
send a copy of your adoption papers with your deposit. After final payment is received, I will donate 20% of the painting
price to that organization in the name of your animal. I will then send you confirmation that I have done so.
