Gladys M. Burgess

     KEYSER, W.Va. – Gladys M. Burgess, 85, of Nashville, Tennessee and formerly of   Stoney Run Road, Keyser, died on Friday, Mary 15, 2009, in Tennessee.

     Born March 9, 1924, in Lost River, she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Mary (Schell) Miller.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, C. Boyd Burgess and son, Christian W. Wirz.

     Mrs. Burgess retired after 25 years as a waitress at Hogates Restaurant in Washington, D.C.  She was a member of Fountain United Brethren in Christ Church and Tacoma Park Chapter 12, OES. 

     Surviving are her granddaughter, Jeanette Wirz of Kingston Springs, Tenn.; great-grandchildren, Britney Roney, Charles C. Roney; a brother, Thomas Miller of Moorefield; two sisters, Vada Campbell of Buchannon and Elizabeth Simmon of Moorefield; step-children, Gary Burgess of Wadsworth, Ohio, Jonathan C. Burgess of Westfield, NJ, Katharine Corbin of Royal Oak, Md, Rebecca Cosgrove of Annapolis, Md; and a daughter-in-law, Marion Wirz of Aurora, Ohio

    A Memorial Service will be held at the convenience of the family at a later date.  Inurnment will be in Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser, W.Va.

    Local arrangements have been entrusted to the Markwood Funeral Home, Keyser.
