Thomas W. Lowry II

     KEYSER, WV – Thomas W. Lowry II, 71, of Pawleys Island, SC and Keyser and formerly of Martinsburg, died Saturday, May 30, 2009, at Heartland of Keyser.
     Born on February 5, 1938, in Charles Town, WV, he was the son of T. Warner Lowry and Lindsey (Welch) Lowry. 

     Tom was a 1955 graduate of Keyser High School, attended Potomac State College from 1955-57, entered the Army in 1957 and served with the 62nd Army Band at Ft. Bliss, Texas.  Released from the military in 1959, he returned to Keyser and worked at the Luke Mill until 1964.  He then returned to college at Shepherd University and graduated in 1967.  After graduation, he taught school briefly at McConnellsburg, PA.   In 1968, he went to work for General Motors in Martinsburg and retired in 1993. He was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church, Martinsburg; Exhausted Roosters, Martinsburg; Elks Lodge #778, Martinsburg; Moose Club, Surfside Beach, SC; and American Legion, Murrells Inlet, SC.

      Surviving are his son Michael Lowry and wife Donna of South Mills, NC; his daughter, Lindsey L. Smith and husband Kevin of Naples, Fla; five grandchildren, T. Warner Lowry III, Meredith Lowry, Emily Lowry, Kaylee Smith and Connor Smith; his former wife Kelley Lowry Kisner of Martinsburg and a very dear friend, Mary Ann Wigfield of Keyser.

     Friends will be received at the Markwood Funeral Home, Keyser, on Friday, June 5, 2009, from 2 - 4 and 7 -9 p.m.  Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home on Saturday, June 6, 2009, at 11 a.m. with the Reverend Vickie K. Minnich officiating.

     Interment will follow in Queen’s Point Cemetery, Keyser, WV.

    The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Tom’s memory to American Diabetes Association, West Virginia/Southeast Ohio Office, 1221A Ohio Avenue, Dunbar, WV 25064.
