Anna Maxine Neel

KEYSER, WV – Anna Maxine Neel, 85, of Great Oak Valley Farm, Keyser, died on Thursday, July 23, 2009, at her residence.

Born on May 18, 1924 in Keyser, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Martha Ellen (Kight) Randalls. She was also preceded in death by her husband Allen P. Neel, a son Dwight A. Neel and a daughter, Judith A. Knight and two brothers, Charles Randalls and Benjamin Randalls.

Mrs. Neel was a former employee of Romig’s Drug Store and a bookkeeper at Mayflower Hotel in Washington, D.C. during WWII. She was a member of Rees Chapel United Methodist Church, New Creek and the United Methodist Women. She was a 1942 graduate of Keyser High School and enjoyed many reunions with her classmates.

Mrs. Neel was a loving mother and grandmother. Throughout her life, she spent endless hours tending the needs of her family.

Surviving are her two daughters, Patricia N. Harberger and husband James of York, PA and Rebecca E. Fout and husband L.A. of New Creek; her three sons, John E. Neel and wife Sherry of Crab Orchard, Michael A. Neel and Teresa Lynn of Kingwood and James P. Stetter Neel and wife Caroline of Beckley. She is also survived by ten grandchildren, Quincy, Lincoln and Seneca Harberger, Kyra and Brie Neel, Jacque and Kimberly Knight, Jesse and Lindsey Fout and Andrew James Neel. She was happy to learn that she would be a great-grandmother this fall.

Friends will be received at the Markwood Funeral Home on Monday, July 27, 2009, from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday, July 28, 2009, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Services will be conducted in the funeral home on Tuesday, July 28, 2009, at 2 p.m. with the Reverend Daniel Stemple officiating.

Interment will follow in Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser.
