Rosalee A. Salyards

     KEYSER, W.VA. - Rosalee A. (McAvoy) Salyards, 77, of Keyser, passed away Wednesday, May  7, 2008 in Winchester, Virginia. 

     She was born in Keyser, West Virginia, on August 28, 1930, the daughter of the late Eston A. and Mary E. (Rohrbaugh) McAvoy of Antioch.  She married Joseph E. Salyards in 1950, who preceded her in death in 1995. 

     Mrs. Salyards was formerly employed by G. C. Murphy Co. locally for many years, followed by American Airlines in Dallas, Texas, from which she retired.  She was an active member of the Sunnyside Church of the Brethren in New Creek, West Virginia, and most recently resided at Potomac Heights Apartments on Carskadon Lane in Keyser.  She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, and also helped out in local schools as a foster grandparent. 

     Surviving are her three sons: Joseph A., of Gaithersburg, Maryland, Larry E., of Plainville, Connecticut, and Donald L., of Dallas, Texas; a sister, Bonnie Wotring; 2 brothers: Bob McAvoy in Clarksburg, WV and Willy McAvoy in Florida, and 2 granddaughters as well as many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. 

     Visiting hours will be on Friday May 9, 2008 from 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday May 10 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Markwood Funeral Home on Mineral Street in Keyser.  Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, May 11, 2008 at 2 p.m. with the Reverend Sonny Dodds officiating.  Final interment will be at the Potomac Memorial Gardens.
