Richard Lee Wilson

     HAWAII – Richard Lee Wilson, 67, of Waipahu, Hawaii and formerly of Keyser, WV, died Monday, July 20, 2009 from a long battle of cancer.

     Born on June 7, 1942 in Keyser, he was a son of the late Joseph F. and Rosa Lee Wilson.  Richard was a 1960 graduate of Keyser High School.

     A  retired United States Air Force Chief Master Sergeant with 29 years of service, he continued his military service to the United States Army as a civilian worker with the 599th Transportation Group at Wheeler Army Airfield.  Richard was awarded many decorations, medals, badges, citations and campaign ribbons during his celebrated military career that reached all over the world.

     He dedicated his service to his country in the Transportation Division throughout his distinguished military career and was a very proud and outstanding member of the Transporters. Friends and family will always remember his devotion, dignity, and dedication.

     Surviving are his wife, Kazuyo; two sons, Richard Wilson II of California and Raymond Wilson of Washington State; his daughter Christina Harvey of California; five brothers, Russell Porterfield Wilson, Joseph Fox Wilson, Jr., Kenneth Sylvester Wilson, Charles Walter Wilson and David Bruce Wilson; two sisters, Rosemary Jane Wilson Renz and Alisa May Wilson Santiago; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

     Richard was an avid golfer and spent endless hours with his wife, Kazuyo, at various golf courses.  Golf was his passion and he planned on golfing in his retirement days.

      A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 28, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of the Assumption, James Street, Keyser, with Father Ivan M. Lebar as celebrant.  Following the mass, friends and family will gather at the Washington-Smith Post #152, American Legion, Virginia Street, Keyser.

     In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions in Richard’s name to the American Cancer Society, 111 South George Street, Cumberland, MD 21502.

     Arrangements have been entrusted to the Markwood Funeral Home, Keyser, WV.
