“With witches and spells, The Red Monkey Theater Group mounted Shakespeare’s dark tragedy at the most appropriate time of the year, Halloween.  This impressive, action-packed production, with clever costuming and set, directed and produced by Tal Aviezer, was riveting…

…Brian Greer gave an extraordinary portrayal of Macbeth that was as sensitive as it was intense, with side-kick Banquo earnestly and powerfully played by David Berman…

…Scenic artist Carolyn J. Fuchs, with Mr. Aviezer, gave us a superbly simple and apt set. The witches, in their Celtic hooded capes, opened the play with their well-known “When shall we three meet again?” while looting the bodies of dead soldiers on the field, then hid beneath the ingenious main set piece that operated at different times as a table, platform and cave…

…Mr. Aviezer has made a remarkable piece of work on the stage at the Lecture Hall Theatre at Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry.  At once imaginative and thrilling, this MACBETH with wonderful sword fights (with very big and real-looking swords, wielded expertly by the ensemble cast) was an absolute scary pleasure.”

“Red Monkey’s many productions have been extremely beneficial to Mercy’s students, especially to those majoring in English and Media Studies along with students enrolled in written English and Literary Studies classes, in acting, directing, oral performance of literature, media in America, television and studio production, etc., as well as to Mercy College faculty and staff who have been involved in productions both onstage and behind the scenes.  Aviezer has regularly staged plays by Shakespeare as well by prominent contemporary playwrights.  These provide our students, many of whom are studying those works in the classroom, the opportunity to see and hear plays come to life in a staged performance.  Many instructors have linked classroom writing and speaking assignments directly to these productions.  Most importantly, these productions are an invaluable learning experience for so many of our students who have never attended a live theatrical presentation.  All of Red Monkey’s productions are always well attended, and receive high praise from both the Mercy College and the local communities.

We have been proud and fortunate to have Red Monkey as Mercy’s resident professional theater company. Indeed, we are all beneficiaries of Red Monkey’s presence on the Dobbs Ferry Campus.  The company has been a vital academic and cultural resource for the college.”

Professor Paul Trent, Chairman of Speech Dept. at Mercy College.

Reviews of other productions directed by RMTG Artistic Director Tal Aviezer;

AGNES OF GOD (February 2008);

"Center Stage Community Playhouse's new revival, staged in a spacious converted chapel, does well by John Pielmeier's claustrophobic, but intermittently funny, three-character play.

The role of the "holy innocent" Sister Agnes is full of gristle too, and Keri Seymour bites bravely into it...Covered in a flowing white habit, with (like Mother Miriam) only the center of her face showing, she shocks and smolders, as does this production, thoughtfully directed by Tal Aviezer. Definitely worth the subway ride to the Bronx."

"Aviezer's direction is quite strong, keeping the action moving nicely and staging the various interplays between the characters like a combination chess/boxing match with both Mother Miriam and Martha each trying for the upper hand while Sister Agnes, the ultimate prize, hangs in the balance."
