RMTG Announces 10th Anniversary Season
Yes, the 2009-2010 season is indeed RMTG’s tenth. Our first production, William Shakespeare’s Cymbeline, opened in late Fall of 1999. We’d like to take a moment to acknowledge the artists, patrons, friends, family and audiences that have sustained us over the past decade.

Our 10th Anniversary season offers two productions, an exciting new venue, and a return to the homes of some old friends. By popular request, acting classes will also be making a return in October.

THE MERCHANT OF VENICE: Performing January 2010
RMTG’s 10th Anniversary Season begins in January 2010 with an abridged production of The Merchant of Venice with a tautly-paced, compressed one-hour running time. This production was specially commissioned by St. Paul’s Church Historic Site in Mt. Vernon, and will perform on Saturday, January 9th in what once served as an 18th century church and courtroom space on the grounds of this Westchester landmark.  Two encore performances will follow at South Presbyterian Church in Dobbs Ferry on January 15 & 16th.

Acting Classes Return to Center Stage Playhouse this Fall

ROMEO AND JULIET: Performing May 2010
RMTG’s 10th Anniversary season continues in Spring 2010 with performances of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet on May 14, 15, 16, 21 & 22, presented by Center Stage Playhouse at Foster Hall on Westchester Avenue in the Bronx. Shakespeare’s story of love and death will be set in the wild territory of South Dakota in 1880.

Auditions for Romeo and Juliet will be held in winter 2010, date TBD. Equity Showcase pending, casting Union & Non-Union actors.

RMTG Receives Arts Alive Grant

The Red Monkey Theater Group has been named by the Westchester Arts Council and the New York State Council of the Arts as the recipient of an Arts Alive Grant in support of our 2009 performances. This grant draws on funds awarded annually to organizations and individuals whose work is deemed an important cultural contribution to the artistic life of Westchester County. 2009 marks the fourth year that RMTG has received an Arts Alive grant. Thanks are in order to everyone involved in RMTG. Your excellent work over the past few seasons is responsible for the quality productions, growing reputation and increasing audience base that has helped us earn this vital support even during challenging economic times.
