Artist Statement
Hello, my name is Carol Freitas, and I’ve been interested and involved with art sense I was
a little girl. I come from several generations of artist/artisans. I am originally from Ponce, Puerto Rico,
were I lived there for seven years before we moved to Massachusetts. Being from a tropical island, I love to express my art
with bright eye-catching colors, and movement.
~~~~~~
My art often projects my personal journey and constant frustrations as a disabled woman. I was born
with Spinal Muscular Atrophy - Type II/III, which limits my mobility through time. However, my appreciation for art and all
of its beauty continues to give me the passion and motivation to continue to express myself for as long as I am capable.I
could honestly never see myself without expressing my love of art in some way, shape, or form. I have seen many individuals
loose their love of life through struggles, and they often forget the beauty that surrounds us everyday. I promised myself,
that I will never forget.
~~~~~~
I currently keep myself busy by working on my art and volunteering with other non-profit/agencies
like Easter Seals, Muscular Dystrophy Association, and Central Sq. Theater in Cambridge.
If you would like to contact me, please call me between
the hours of 1pm-5pm, Monday to Friday at 617.247.2255 or 857.472.4845.
If I am unavailable; please, leave me a message and I will
return your call as soon as possible.
Please feel free to recommend my website to others, thanks!
