File Conversion and Internet Encoding (MP3)
The MP3 Option allows Orbital Sound to both import and export MP3 files in the Pro Tools environment. The MP3 option
is based on the superior compression technology of Germany's Fraunhofer Institute.
Orbital Sound's MP3 import and export service allows you to post your audio content on the Internet with the best MP3
compression available, as well as import your existing MP3 files into your studio sessions. Our file conversion and Internet
encoding service features the very latest encoding technology, offering dramatic improvements in processing speed, enhanced
processing quality, and support of constant bit rate (CBR) and variable bit rate (VBR) encoding at bit rates of up to 320
kbps.
Audio Restoration and Artifact Removal
Orbital Sound uses a five step plan in its digital restoration process that analyzes the source material to determine
the problem and reduces fixed-frequency noise, crackle, distortion and broadband noise.
Orbital Sound's audio restoration process starts with investigation. That means critical listening, logging, taking notes,
and then performing various measurments of frequency versus amplitude over time. Fixed-frequency noise and any unwanted signal
that remains steady (or close to it) over time is then filtered out. Orbital Sound uses click detection algorithms for impulse
noise reduction of pops and clicks. Once the larger pops, clicks, ticks, and zipper noises are removed, we use decrackling
and clip removal tools to reduce signal distortion and clipping. The final component in Orbital Sound's audio restoration
arsenal is a broadband noise reduction tool. We use Digidesign's award-winning Intelligent Noise Reduction plug-in, to effectively
reduce unwanted noise - including tape hiss, guitar-amp buzz, and air conditioner rumble - for cleaner, more professional
sounding audio. Since the noise is analyzed and subtracted entirely in the digital realm, the results can be virtually free
of side effects - such as distortion, dynamic modulation (pumping and breathing), and the undesired fluctuations in frequency
response associated with conventional noise reduction systems.
Audio Restoration and Transfer Rates
We offer
digital audio restoration and transfer services. Unless otherwise requested, return shipping of all materials is by insured
priority mail with delivery confirmation. Any services not listed below, are billed at $10.00 per hour. Prices below are for
quantities of 1-10 CDs. We offer a CD quantity price discount of 5% for quantities of 11- 30 and a 10% discount for quantities
over 30.
