“Extraction”- This is the word used to describe the beginning process of manufacturing. A term used in the industry for the taking of natural resources to produce the millions
of items sold every day…worldwide. And, every day we cannot go without seeing, hearing or reading some type of information
linking this process to many environmental, ethical or health issues troubling our world.
Recycling natural and manmade items help keep my work creative and "outside the box".
It also keeps costs down. As artists and craftpeople can tell you, materials
are becoming expensive and scarce.
The word used for the end result of the manufacturing process is called “Disposal”. In most cases throwaway items end up in a landfill or trash burning facility.
Why not use the things we take for granted and give them a second life?
