U.S. Navy SURC in Iraq

The SURC, outfitted with three versatile weapons mounts for medium and heavy machine guns, will be able to maintain cruising speeds of 30 knots with a sprint speed of 35 knots. The 38-foot long aluminum hull with full-length beaching plates enables the craft to withstand bow first beaches of unobstructed shorelines with gravel, sand, silt and mud surfaces. The SURC can remain afloat when filled with water and has a draft of merely 24 inches when operationally loaded (16 Marines and two crew plus gear) in a stationary position.
