What's the LAST LAP GANG?

Well, the Last Lap Gang is more of a WHO.  It started out as a WHAT, and we can answer WHY it became a WHO.   Confused?  It's simple, really...

The Last Lap Gang is a family.

This family includes Russ, Erin, Noah, Liam, Jaxson and the Hounds.

So, why is this family called THE LAST LAP GANG?

In October of 1996, Erin adopted her first Retired Racing Greyhound.   In November of 1997, Russ adopted his first Retired Racing Greyhound.  Soon the quartet of hounds and humans formed a group... the Last Lap Greyhound Connection.   Russ, Dakota, Erin and Hayride traveled around their area and spread the word about how rewarding it is to save a life and ADOPT a Retired Racing Greyhound.  Soon, they were doing more than spreading the word, they were actually rescuing greyhounds from a track in New Hampshire, and getting those hounds into loving homes.

In 2001, Russ and Erin began planning their long awaited wedding.   This task made focusing on rehoming greyhounds difficult, so some other greyhound care-givers offered to take over the effort.  The offer was welcome, and since the new care-givers did such a great job, Russ and Erin decided to take leave of the Greyhound Adoption circle for a while.  Their own Last Lap Pack had grown by two, Ash the Greyhound, and Rasputin the Borzoi, so they too were requiring some one on one loving.   However, they couldn't let go of their name.  After the wedding, they'd find a new use for it!

Russ and Erin were married on October 5, 2002 on a warm, sunny day on the bank of the Potomac River in Piney Point, MD.  It was a wonderful day, and a dream come true.  A honeymoon in Dewey Beach, DE for the Annual Greyhounds Reach the Beach Reunion was the perfect start to a new life together.

While visiting some friends and family in Doylestown, PA in the early winter of 2002, a friend mentioned a new hobby that he and his wife had begun.  This hobby was called, Geocaching.  Erin and Russ thought the concept sounded simple, but didn't know the first thing about using a GPSr, much less owning one.  That would change, when Erin realized she needed a last minute Christmas present for Russ.  Even before the package had arrived from "Santa," Russ and Erin were investigating the website, and registering a user name...
