Douglas J. Archambault, Author, Poet

About the Author

Douglas Archambault started writing after he retired. He wrote "Two Stepped Out For Him" in 2005 about a spiritual call that led his wife Joan and him on a five-year quest, filled with unexpected surprises, trials and friendships.

He wrote "The Darkness before the Dawn/-In My Footsteps Poems to Inspire" in 2006 about how he overcame colon cancer and a host of other issues when he thought he was healthy. During this time, he remained positive and kept his humor. IHe started writing poems during his convalescence. The poem "The Hospital Room" inspired him to write "The Darkness before the Dawn."

Douglas has his first children’s book which is also his first fiction book coming out in 2008. Entitled, "The Adventures of Little Buddy and Grizz," This book brings to life the adventures of a 10-year old boy who becomes lost in Yellowstone National Park and meets a gigantic grizzly that can talk. This story takes a modern day setting and a writing style that goes back in time before Yogi Bear and Charlotte’s Web to the time of Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys. Simplistic in nature but full of adventure and humor the story spans 12 years of the boy’s life.

Douglas likes to use what he calls “easy words.” Part of his reasoning, is that he does not want the reader to have to stop to take out a dictionary, which would take away from the experience. However, he also likes to joke that he has a history of using simple words. Doug says “I think I was the worst speller in the class back in the days I was in school.”

Douglas and his wife Joan have a book of poems coming out hopefully this year titled "Poems from Our House to Your House." Joan uses a more rhymes poetry, while Doug uses more of an imagery poetry.

Douglas and his wife Joan live in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire.

Doug is an excellent writer. He writes from the heart. He and Joan combine to make an up and coming successful author. His first books when read makes you feel like you could have been along with them experiencing all of the things that happen as they are told. The second book is very will done also and Joan contributed poems as well. It is an incentive to all who are cancer survivors. Look for his new children’s novel coming out some time before Christmas It is well done and very entertaining . You won't be able to wait to see what happens next. September 2007
