Using your
Sweet Harmony Baby Pouch

(Click
on links to see video demonstrations.)
Please
remember that learning to use a baby carrier is a little like riding a bicycle. It will take some time and practice to be
able to quickly and easily place your child comfortably and securely inside.
After a few tries, it will become second nature. Try it first with a doll or stuffed animal.
Then try with your child. You will have more success learning to use your
Sweet Harmony Baby Pouch if your baby is rested and fed before you start.
Getting the Pouch on: Hold your Sweet Harmony Baby Pouch in your right hand so that
the curved seem is down and the open edges are facing away from you. Place
the Sweet Harmony Baby Pouch over your head, letting it come to rest on your shoulder and under your opposite arm. (The curved seam should be under your arm and open edges facing up.) Separate the open edged to form a ”pocket.” This is where the baby will go.
Semi-reclined/Cradle Position: Place baby into the “pocket” of Sweet Harmony Baby Pouch, sitting
or lying across your body. Be sure to have pouch fabric between you and baby. To nurse in this position, simply lean baby back to bust level, scrunch inner pouch
fabric down below breast, and latch-on. The outer pouch fabric can be brought
up a bit to act as a nursing cover.
Kangaroo Carry: Begin as you did in 1-3, except move curved seam to the front center
of your body. Place baby into the “pocket” in a sitting position,
facing away from you. Baby’s legs should be crossed “Indian Style.”
Snuggle
Hold/Tummy to Tummy: Proceed as you did for the Kangaroo Carry but instead place baby into the “pocket” facing you. Baby’s legs should
be in “froggy” position.
Hip Carry (legs in): Begin as in 1-3. Place baby
into “pocket” on your hip facing you, with legs “froggy” style.
To bring baby closer to you, or provide more head support you can do the “shoulder flip”. The upper open edge is flipped down part way over the shoulder, tightening
the pouch against baby.
Hip Carry (legs out): As baby gets older, (s)he may prefer to ride with legs out. Begin as in 1
& 2. You will not make a “pocket” for this carry. Instead, the curved seam becomes the seat for baby. Place
baby on your hip between you and both layers of the Sweet Harmony Baby Pouch. Be
sure that the lower part of the curved seam seat completely covers baby’s bottom and the fabric comes out to the child’s
knees. Try to get baby’s bottom lower than the knees, so that the child
is “sitting” in the seat. Spread the upper fabric up baby’s
back to get a secure carry. Again, the “shoulder flip” may be used to bring baby closer and tighter.
These are just a few positions to get you
started. As you become more familiar with the use of your pouch you may try different
carries or invent some of your own. Always remember to check the pouch seam for
wear and that your child is securely “in” the pouch before removing your hands.
Please be careful!!!
As with all brands
of sling and pouch type baby carriers your child is not tied in.
YOU
are responsible for your child’s safety.
Always pay attention to your child's security and movements.
