The Hiller Volunteer Fire Company was chartered
in 1942 with the puchase of four indian fighter brush firefighting units.
The Brownsville Telegraph
reported that in Febuary 1946 the Hiller volunteer fire company has announced the
purchase of a new Federal fire truck. Organized just two years ago, the Hiller
company has shown continued development and now has forty men on its membership roll.
Purchase of the firefighting apparatus will equip the company to fight all types of fires in its section of Luzerne
township. The new truck will cost approximately $6,000. Since adequate water supplies are not available in all portions of the township, the truck will have a 500-gallon
booster tank. The purchase was made through the LaBelle Motor Company.
