A Historical Miniatures Gaming Group

The group I game with is called HAWKs, short for Harford Area Weekly Kreigsspeilers. We meet on alternate Thursday nights in the church hall of St. George's Parish, Perryman, Maryland. This is in Harford County, just Northeast of Baltimore, near the US Army's Aberdeen Proving Ground.

We are not a club, by design. We have no officers, no rules, no dues and no organization. We operate by mutual agreement. This is intended to help avoid conflicts, and it seems to work!

The group formed about 1995, when one member taught a non-credit course on wargaming, looking for other gamers. The the group started with about 5 members, and has grown to over two dozen 'members', with from 8 to 18 showing up for a meeting night. We generally run two games each meeting night, but we run from 16 to 50 games over two to four days at the three major historical miniatures gaming conventions here on the East Coast of the USA. Two conventions are held in Lancaster, PA, Cold Wars generally in March, and Historicon in July. The third, Fall In!, is in November, and is usually held in Gettyburg, PA.

For more information on the conventions visit the Historical Miniatures Gaming Society - East  web page by clicking below.

To see what nights we will be gaming next, or the games we have scheduled, visit the HAWKs schedule page from the menu on the left.

We also host our own one day historicals mini-convention, BARRAGE; in 2006 it will be January 21st. For information on this visit the Barrage page through the menu on the left.

Coming from the North side of Baltimore, take the I-95 exit North to exit 80. [1] Take this exit (MD Rte 543) East, go about 1 mile [2] (past 3 traffic lights) and the road makes a 180 degree left turn, and ends on US Rte 40. [3] Take a right here. You will be heading Northeast. Just about 1 mile later you come to a traffic light at Spesutia Road. [4] Turn right here. Follow this road about 3/4 mile until you come to a stop sign [5] at Perryman Road. Look out your passenger window and you can see the hall, about 100 yards away. Turn right here, there is a yield sign. Stay in the right lane. Turn right at the next intersection. [6] This is the cutoff to Old Perryman Road. You are facing the hall. About 50 feet later turn right again, and *immediately* begin turning left into the drive in front of the hall.
