                                                     Indian Face Painting

Indians  painted their faces for many different reasons.  The first reason is to please spirits. The second reason is to  frighten evil spirits and enimies. The Indians painted pictures of  snakes, deer or bears on each cheek. At wartime they painted black circles around their eyes. The  Indians painted many different patterns such as dotted lines Men and Women both did that.

The colors on their faces ment many different things.
Here are some,

Black- death
Red- power and success
Blue- defeat and troble
Yellow- joy, travel and bravery
White- peace

                         Indian Singing
Indians believed that songs would bring them help from the Spirit Of Nature. Songs of the Indians were very good. Before the Indians peformed, they practiced untill they knew all the songs and dances by heart. When they preformed they sung  untill they couldn't sing anymore. It took them weeks to learn the dances and songs. When they learned the songs and dances they would preform.

Indian Dances

The Indians have many dances that they made up and paased on. They loved dancing, and moved their bodies as well as their hands and feet. They always danced and sung for fun. All dances had a meaning. The Indians had war dance, and gave wild war whoops. We are not sure of what wild war whoops mean. Their dance wars were held in the Concil Building or outdoors around a fire. They wore costumes, made false faces and painted their faces in their dances. Dancing was part of the Indian' religion.
