I feel about airplanes the way I feel about diets. It seems to me that they are wonderful things for other people to go on.  ~Jean Kerr, "Mirror, Mirror, on the Wall," The Snake Has All the Lines, 1958

We had a very busy morning today, because the Accademia was closed on Monday's we opted to go first thing on Tuesday morning before leaving for Rome.  It was amazing; we were first in the group only line to get into the Accademia and the first to see the David - by ourselves without the crowds of people - it was amazing - one of the best memories of our trip.

After seeing the David we headed back to the hotel, grabbed our luggage, and headed over to the bus for our trip into Rome.  We arrived around 2:30pm at the Hotel Nardizzi and the Hotel Oceania which is actually the same building just two different floors.

By 3:15pm we headed out and got onto the metro for our ride to the Coliseum to meet our tour guide.

Our very beautiful tour guide in Rome

The twin brothers Romulus and Remus were the

sons of the God Mars. When they were very young they were found by a she-wolf who took pity on them.

The Pantheon was our final stop before dinner.

One last stop was the Trevi Fountain - 3 coins in

Today we got to sleep in, "sleeping in" is anything past 6:30am but no later than 8:00am!!!  We all met outside the hotel at 9:45am and headed over to the Vatican to see the Pope in St. Peter's Square.  After a metro ride and a short walk we passed through the metal detectors and made our way through the crowds to get the best view-point.

Just after the Pope passed Ben whisked us all over to the Vatican Museum to get in line in front of the crowd of people that would be heading there after seeing the Pope.  We toured the Museum and ended in the Sistine Chapel - all I can say is Whoa!!!

Our first stop this morning was the Vatican.
