I met a lot of people in Europe.  I even encountered myself.  ~James Baldwin

We were off to Switzerland today around 9:00am.  It was a beautiful drive through northern Italy and southwestern Switzerland, so many mountains, curvy roads, and steep inclines and declines.  The drive took about 10 hours but the views made the time go by quickly.

When we arrived in Gimmelwald, Switzerland we had to take a tram to get us to the top of the mountain where our hotel was located 4500 feet above.  The hotel was neat looking, very Swiss, with ornate woodcarvings, painted brown and white with flower boxes on the windows.  The stairs creaked, the beds creaked, and the ceilings were low, but it all just added to the charm and experience.

A quick stop in Interlaken to pick up some Swiss

Franc at the ATM and to do some souvenir shopping for Swiss army knives.

All I could do today was think of heading home and seeing my family and others.  I guess I was thinking the trip would end soon and how fast it all went.  I am so glad I took the 3 weeks - I wouldn't change a thing.  I wish my daughter Meg would have come; there is so much to experience.

The plan for today was a hike.  The Schilthorn was fogged in so we ended up taking the less foggy route down to Murren, down to Grischalp, over to Lauderbrun for lunch and then a stop at the Trummelbach Falls before heading back to Gimmelwald.

we stopped at this restaurant to enjoy a hot cup of coco and the atmosphere.

Cow bells on display show the pride they have

in their community and family.

You will ask yourself a hundred times...

how does it do that???

We stopped to see the awesome Trummelbach

falls - it was worth the hike (bus to the falls).
