equipment

Equipment needed

1. Rubber soccer cleats for outdoor soccer and tennis shoes for indoor soccer.

2. A ball sized appropriately for their age. The regulation soccer ball is a size 5. 6 — 10 year old players will generally use a size 4 ball, while a size 3 ball is reserved for Pre-K to first grade.

3. Shin-guards. These are plastic or fiberglass guards that protect the shins from contact with other players. Each player should be required to wear them to both practice and games.

4. Soccer socks, which are very long socks that go under and then back down over the shin-guard. Every player should wear these to practice as well as games

The goal tender

1. A brightly colored, contrasting jersey so that the goalie is easily recognized.

2. Goalie gloves to protect the hands of the goalie.

3. Elbow and hip pads since diving laterally to the ground is a necessary hazard / skill.
