How You Can Help!

The more we make a unified voice the better chance we have of getting legislation passed! There's much you can do to raise awareness regarding this important issue.

"The pen is mightier than the sword."

1) Contact your local legislators. Ask them to support hearing aid legislation when it comes up for a vote. Request that they become a co-sponsor of a hearing aid bill. Request that they contact the primary sponsors to show that this is important to their constituents. Meet with them in person. Show them how proper amplification adds to your quality of life.

2) Get friends and relatives from NJ to write to their legislators.

3) Contact Governor Corzine. Ask him to urge legislators to pass Grace's Law and to become a strong advocate for HAIL.

4) Contact the committee members and Chair where the bill is residing like the Senate Commerce or Assembly Appropriations, etc. and ask them to post the bill for a vote.

5) Write a letter to your local newspaper. This will help raise awareness.

6) When a bill is posted for a vote in the various committees as it moves through the legislative process on it's way to the Governor's desk, please make every effort to go to the State Capitol in Trenton and TESTIFY! It really helps for the legislators to hear from the people this will benefit. Plus it is so important from them to hear from the other side and not just the insurance lobbyists who will most definitely be there to request that it doesn't get passed. Plus it's a great learning/life experience! Don't have time? At least call the committee members that will be voting prior to the meeting and tell them to vote a resounding YES! Again the contact info. for all committee members is on the NJ Leg. website.

7) Contact local tv stations like NJN, CN8 or radio stations like 101.5FM to raise awareness and show legislators that this is important to NJ residents.

Remember: One person can make a difference!

We did it! H.A.I.L. passed in 2008!
