Over the summer I have been working on projects around the house.

Here are few.

The table comes from my grandfathers. Circa 1950’s, mahogany with folding leaves the height of the table. When I received it, it was black lacquered with a dry spot where it had faced a window. A pizza box, hot coffee mug and a pan of brownies straight out of the oven put white stain on its surfaces. It was time to refinish.

I first stripped the table with easy strip. The directions read let stand for 24 hours; this took more like 3 days. I than meticulously scrapped and sanded for two weeks, than stained with a light cherry and used a wipe on polyurethane, 2 coats on the legs and six coats on the top surface. I like the way it turned out and it makes a great piece.

1939 Philco Radio Cabinet

When I closed down the Studio. I brought home with me a cabinet. The cabinet sat in a corner of my Studio and held my stereo and television. The cabinet belonged to someone in my families past we are not sure of who. When I had received it, it had been painted white. I than painted it in the arts and craft style. To go with the Studio. I always new there was nice wood underneath but never had the time to spend to restore it.
Now that it has moved home with me. I do not have space for it in the Studio and it will need to be absord into the rest of the house. I began stripping the many layers of paint and varnish. I discovered these beautifull vaniers underneath. With a little research I discovered that this is a Philco, highboy style radio from 1939. The venears are beautifull. My intension is to convert the cabinet into a liqure cabenit. I mostly finished the stripping before the weather turned cold. I will have to wait till spring to continue with this project.
