JOHN
STRAWBRIDGE is a Writer/Director living in Baltimore.
He
is one of the founders, and the Artistic Director of Actors Company Theatre.
He
is the Founder and Creative Director of Campanile Media, which provides writing and directing services.
As
a Director, John is currently in development on “The Church”; a dramatic cable TV series for Full Quiver Productions,
and is in pre-production for WASHINGTON’S AX –
an independent feature.
As
an associate Casting Director with Pat Moran + Associates, C.S.A., he worked on casting the HBO series, The Wire, as well
as the East Coast casting for the feature films SYRIANA, WEDDING CRASHERS, and was part of the search for the new Superman/Clark
Kent for Warner Brothers’ SUPERMAN RETURNS.
Other
recent projects include HBO's Something the Lord Made (which received both an Emmy Nomination and an Artios Award for casting),
John Waters' A DIRTY SHAME, an ABC Pilot, NBC's Joey, Universal’s RED DRAGON, HBO's Shot in the Heart, and The WB's
Young Americans.
For
five seasons, he worked on NBC's Homicide: Life on the Street, which received 3 Emmy nominations and one Emmy Award for casting.
Other
film projects have included TUCK EVERLASTING, WASHINGTON SQUARE, ABSOLUTE POWER, ENEMY OF THE STATE and HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS.
For director John Waters, he has worked on such films as A DIRTY SHAME, CRY-BABY, PECKER, CECIL B. DeMENTED and SERIAL MOM.
For Barry Levinson, projects have included LIBERTY HEIGHTS and AVALON. Other television projects have included pilots for HBO, ABC, NBC,
Fox and Disney.
He
has worked with a broad range of directors including Ridley Scott, Tony Scott, Brett Ratner, Martin Campbell, Peter Medak,
Agnieszka Holland, Clint Eastwood, Jodie Foster, Stephan Gaghan and Betty Thomas.
He
is the Artistic Director of The Education and Entertainment Foundation (501.c.3), providing Creative consulting, Writing,
and Design work in live theatrical experiences for young people.
In
the past, John worked with the MD State Film Commission.
He
is an educator, active in classes and seminars for professional actors, regularly conducts workshops for the SAG Conservatory
series, The Actors’ Boot Camp , and others. He is a frequent panelist for discussion workshops, including recent panels
for ITVA and The Actors, Center. At the college level, he has been an adjunct
Faculty member at BCCC and Villa Julie
College.
John is a recipient of the Actors' Center 2001 Theatre Distinction Award.
