I’ve been involved in fiction
of all lengths this week, and had great fun with all of it.
I submitted another 100-word
flash to Flashshot. I woke up one morning with the complete story in my head
and actually remembered it long enough to write down. I love it when stuff like that happens.
Next, I finished the first story
for the Ex Factor anthology. It’s about 3,500-words and deals with the reunion
of two old high school friends. This one might be a little too graphic or raw for the editors, but I won’t know till I see
their feedback. The other two stories I plan to submit are in the works. One is about a family reunion gone wrong and the other features a soldier coming home
from Iraq. (Yes, my take on the ex factor is a little twisted from the usual
ex-spouse/ex-lover subject matter. As stated before, my drummer plays only for
me.)
I finished up a proposal for
the freshly revised Concerto Diavolo and submitted it to a publisher I shall not name due to my superstitions.
And last, I am thoroughly enjoying
reading “Seven By Seven,” an anthology of short, short stories based on the seven deadly sins.
Each of the seven authors contributed seven stories to the book, one for each sin.
I’m trying to read it one story at a time so I can savor it. Every time
I have a five-minute break, I pick it up and read another story. It’s like candy
for the brain! There are some wonderful twists and turns in this book. I highly
recommend it. If you’re so inclined, you can purchase your copy at Wolfmont Publishing.
Till next time,
Jill.
