The EX Factor Update

My story High School Reunion has been officially accepted for inclusion in The EX Factor anthology to be published in October.  The thrill of an acceptance never fades!

I’ve submitted Homecoming and am awaiting word on it.  And work is underway on my third submission, Family Reunion.

Till next time,

Jill.

A Winning Week

I won two contests this week!  Only one was for writing, though.  In the other, I correctly identified two flowers and won a book called A Wicked Good Play by Tony Burton.

But the bigger news is being one of the winners of the Crime and Suspense Flash of Summer contest.  I’m really thrilled to be among the winners.  Some great stories were submitted and many of the voters say they had a difficult time selecting their favorite! You can read Devil Hunt and all the other entries here

And I won my self-imposed contest to finish my second submission for the EX Factor anthology.  I finished Homecoming right on schedule and it’s now with my trusted crit partner for the final polish.  But there's no rest for the weary or the winner; I will begin working on my third story right away.

Till next time,

Jill.

Flash Fiction Week

I think I’m getting the hang of writing flash fiction.  My 100-word The Tourist has been accepted at Flashshot.  Flight School will be published on August 28. Trapped and The Tourist will follow later in the year.

I also entered a flash fiction contest (sorry, but due to the judging process I can’t really mention too much about it).  Nonetheless, I had a great time writing the story, particularly because it was themed and up to 500 words.  Winners will be announced May 31.

Also, it looks like The EX Factor anthology will be published on Friday the 13th of October.  A very fitting date.

Till next time,

Jill.
