Do Unto Others is a product of welled-up anger.
My
horror classmates had just come up with a great idea of publishing our collected stories about swamps and spooky images in
mirrors. I had no ideas. Not a thing came to mind.
The deadline loomed.
I decided to do some research on the
Jersey Devil. Maybe an idea would pop up. The research was interesting, but didn't prompt a story. I could fudge on
the deadline a bit; after all, I was the editor. I could handle everyone else's story first, then slip mine in.
Bad
idea. I might be influenced by the stories I read.
I cleared my desk and my mind. A nugget of an idea formed. I started
to write. I deleted the mess. Another start. Another mess. The third start was the charm. Something--I still don't know exactly
what--made me angry enough to warp my thoughts.
Do Unto Others brings together my thoughts and fears
of the Jersey Devil, the desires many authors hold for their work and some really ugly human behaviors.
You'll enjoy other stories in Adumbra, too.

out for a thorough seeing to with no mercy. I only use a mirror to reduce shaving blood-loss, but after Adumbra I am growing
a beard."
