Volunteers from churches in Central and Northern N.Y. have formed a "Mission & Ministry"
team, commissioned by the Presbytery of Cayuga-Syracuse. The volunteers are coordinating their efforts with the Presbyterian
Church USA's Presbyterian Disaster Assistance agency (PDA). They will travel to
Gautier, MS during February, 2006, to assist in helping the Gautier community recover from the hurricanes which struck the
Gulf Coast.
Our Mission
Purpose: As children of God, we are all part of the same body of Christ. As such, when the leg is broken, the entire
body is crippled. We who are able must come to the aid of those in need. This mission is meant to provide an opportunity for
us to work side-by-side with our Southern sisters and brothers to help them clean-up and recover from Hurricanes Katrina and
Rita.

Organization News
Approximately 25 Central New Yorkers will depart Feb. 21, 2006 from Syracuse Hancock International airport, and travel
to Gautier, MS, where they will be joined by additional volunteers coming from Campeche, Mexico
and Houston, Texas.
The Presbyterian Disaster Assistance agency (PDA) has
established a base camp, where the volunteers will be housed during their stay. An onsite PDA coordinator
will assign tasks to the volunteers, who will lend their labor and their faith in helping the Gautier community restore hope
and normalcy to their lives.
