Many people who pray will very fervently ask for God to intercede and grant their petition. When these same people are asked if they believe that God will answer their prayers, they shrug their shoulders and say, "God's will be done." In essence, they do not truly believe that God will answer their prayers. The are saying that God will answer their prayers if He feels like it.

The Bible states;

“…all things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.” Matthew 21:22

Does this quote sound familiar? If you are a fan of positive thinking information, you know this is the main idea of one of those "secret" videos that are so popular now on the internet. The "secret" maintains that you should ask, believe, and receive.

Read that quote again. It says that you will receive everything you ask for in prayer, if you truly believe (and KNOW) that God will provide it.

That doesn't mean that God will deposit a chest of cash in your living room if you pray for financial assistance. It doesn't usually happen that way (although it can). Normally, you would get a money making idea, a job offer, or some method that could provide you with the money you need. Listen to, and heed those opportunities, it's how God works.
It reminds me of a joke I heard some years ago: Reverend Clark lived in a two story house in a large valley. The radio warned of rising flood waters and urged residents to head for higher ground. As the Reverend had no vehicle, he prayed that God would save him from the approaching flood. A while later, as the flood waters rose to the level of his front porch, a large flat bed tractor trailer drove by slowly. "Reverend," called the driver. "Hop on, I'll drive you to safety." "No thank-you," answered the Reverend, "God will take care of me." A few hours later, as the level of the water rose above the first floor, a boat cruised by. "Reverend," called the captain. "Hop aboard and I'll take you to safety. "No thank-you," answered the Reverend, "The Lord will take care of me." The water continued to rise and the Reverend was forced to climb onto the roof. A while later, a helicopter happened by. Over the loud speaker, the pilot shouted, "Reverend, put the harness on and I'll fly you to safety." "No thank-you," answered the Reverend, "The Lord will take care of me." The pilot waved and flew off. The flood waters continued to rise and the Reverend drowned. On his entrance into heaven the Reverend spoke to the Lord. "Lord, I prayed for hours that you would save me but still, I drowned." "Reverend," the Lord answered, "I sent a truck for you and you refused my help, I sent a boat and still you refused, I then sent a helicopter, and you refused my help for a third time."
The moral of the story is, When the Lord offers you a life line, go ahead and take it!
