The Noah Coombs House circa 1837 is located at 18 Milford St.
Milford Street came into being in the 1830s.

18 Milford was part of 15 acres sold by David & James Mann (sons, executors for Ralph Mann) to Paris Mann (uncle) 15 acres on Hartford & Dedham Turnpike. This 15 acres extended from Main to Highland.

Paris Mann to Noah Coombs 15 acres on Hartford and Dedham Turnpike.

Noah Coombs was born in Bellingham in 1804, and in1835 bought land near the center of West Medway.  In 1838 he married Catherine Adams of Medway, and built his house (#16) on the new road to Milford that had cut through the center of his land.  Noah was a farmer, and they had 3 children Harriet Elizabeth (1840), Sarah C (1843), and Noah (1845) who lived only for one year.  They sold their Medway house in 1850 and moved to Bellingham.  Noah Coombs died of pericarditis in Medway at 75 years of age.

An 1837 deed for #16 (116:324) describes its western neighbor #18 as "Coombs house lot" "at the new road to Milford".

Noah Coombs to Seth Holbrook, 3.75 acres "with buildings thereon" (1 acre north of Milford Street).

Seth Holbrook to Noah Coombs of Medway, butcher
$615, 1 acre -”the above described with the buildings thereon the same said Coombs now occupies” (the other 2.75 acres are on the south side of Milford Street)
Holbrook sold 1 acre back to Coombs. This acre was on the north side of the new Milford Street.  The other 2.75 acres continued on the south side of Milford Street.
 
3/27/1850       Norfolk County Deed: 193:49
Coombs sold the eastern half acre to David Partridge. The lot description included 1/2 acre with dwelling house with ell attached, and 1/2 well rights. The well was located in the middle of the acre.

The western half acre was sold on that same day to William Knight, physician, with the other half well rights and no building.

Noah Coombs to Elisha Cutler, back of 10, 16 &18 Milford Streets. 4 acres with barn, slaughter house, and half well rights “in common with Partridge” and right of use of the passageway between said land and the land of David Partridge

$170. 12 rods long by 10 rods wide, with well rights and maintenanace of passageway with Slocumbs lot to the west, and Partridges other lot to the east.

On the 1858 map, the land is located west of Adams Livery Stable,at the bend in the road,  east of Owen Gormley, and across from W. Creasy.  On all maps, it is shown east of Gormley and across from Creasy.
