Registry of Deeds for Norfolk County - on the early deeds, the
building was called the "Tavern Stand" by the time Lydia Thayer owned it - it was called the "old Hotel"
"Tavern Stand" at the corner of Slocumb and Main:
04/26/1813 Norfolk County Deed: 66:13 Jabez
Shumway, yeoman to Malachi Bullard, housewright ½ acre on Hartford &
Dedham Turnpike at the West parish Meetinghouse Common $30. Bullard was the housewright in charge of building the new
West Parish Meetinghouse and he needed housing for his workers close by on Slocumb Place. By 1820 Bullard's boarding
house (2 Slocumb, 198, 196 Main) had become a Tavern as well, and a store, shed, and stable (194 & 192 Main) had been
added to it along Main Street. It was called the “Tavern Stand”.

38:34 Timothy Whiting of Medway, gentleman to Henry Cary of Boston, gentleman by the consideration of our Justices of our
Supreme Judicial Court, held at Boston, To the sheriffs of our Counties of Suffolk and Norfolk …..recovered judgment
against Timothy Whiting of Medway, gentleman, for the sum of $4413.33 damages, and 36.53 cost of suit ….We commend
you therefore …..that of the goods, chattels, or lands of the said Whiting, you cause to be paid and satisfied unto
the said Cary.

Cary, Attorney at Law to Malachi Bullard of Medway, gentleman 9 acres pasture land in West Medway $387. Part of judgment against
Timothy Whiting at the Supreme Judicial Court, Boston, 1810.
03-06-1827 Dedham County Deed:
81:181 Malachi Bullard to Simeon Fuller, (a prosperous
merchant trader) 9.5 acres with dwelling house, barn, store, and shed. Over the next few years, Fuller sold lots
along Main Street for dwelling houses.
02-29-1840 Dedham County Deed: 128:36 Simeon Fuller to
Levi Adams, Joel Partridge, Christopher Slocum 7.5 acres with Tavern Stand $3300. In 1940, Simeon Fuller sold the
Tavern Stand with 7.5 acres to partners to Levi Adams, Joel Partridge, and Christopher Slocum for $3300. Levi Adams
died 1842. At that time the Tavern Stand housed a hotel, tavern, 2 stores, the post office, and a stable.
In 1853, the Tavern Stand was divided up with the hotel, tavern, and 5 acres owned by Christopher Slocumb; the stores, stable,
and carriage house with ½ acre of land owned by the Joel Partridge family.

Harriet Bancroft. East part of store 80 rods $700.
