I got the idea for this icon from a mosaic of a cathedral
ceiling with the Jesus Prayer written in several languages around the border. My drawing has the prayer in English (although
it could be copied with the prayer in any other language you wanted). Also, I
opened the book Jesus is holding and included the verse from the Gospel of Matthew (11:28) so that those who labor
in prayer are reminded of His promise to gather us and give us rest. Once I had the design, I couldn't
wait to paint it! I ordered these beautiful 6-inch wide basswood circle boards with just the slightest routed edge.
The board is 3/4 inch thick, with a hanger on the back.
