Swordplay is New York City's oldest continuously running stage combat teaching organization, dedicated to providing training to professional actors in the techniques of safe and effective stage combat. Established in 1995, Swordplay continues to offer an eclectic array of classes and workshops, all taught by some of New York's most experienced, sought after and internationally recognized stage combat professionals.

Swordplay's instructors are working fight directors with years of experience in the fields of theatre, film, television, opera and dance, and thousands of hours in the classroom helping actors to master the very techniques they will use on stage and screen.  They are dedicated to nurturiing the growth of each and every student.

Swordplay offers classes in a wide variety of subects, including basic, intermediate and advanced technique classes, eclectic one-day intensives, custom - designed workshops, and Skills Proficiency Testing for both the SAFD (Society of American Fight Directors) and the FDC (Fight Directors Canada).
