As a business executive, he was one of the first
business pioneers in the restoration of Victorian homes in what later became the Capitol Hill Historic District for nearly
twenty years. He was the owner of Victorian Properties on Capitol Hill for over twenty years.
He has served
on five endowment boards, and is active in civic and social affairs, including historic preservation, theatrical, Italian,
and church organizations. He previously served on the governing board of the US Food Distribution Society.
His hobbies include reading, historic preservation, bridge, swimming and bicycling. He is an avid
ballroom dancer. He is an army veteran.
He is a graduate of the College of William and Mary and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, and did further
doctoral work in monetary economics.
He has lived in the Capitol Hill Historic District (Eastern Market) in Washington, DC for 40 years. He
is married to Susan Flaum Hesser. His son, Thomas Augustus Gallo, a 2005 graduate of St. John's College,
Annapolis, MD is a businessman in Washington, DC.
He is a manager and chief financial officer of Fragers Hardware
on Capitol Hill, and currently working on his MBA at George
Washington University. Previously, he was construction supervisor for two landmark H Street sites: The Rock and Roll Hotel and Sticky Rice Restaurant.
