Project "Gerty"

UPDATE (Monday, 11/17/09):  Gerty's restoration is going very well.  After about 12 1/2 hours of work, she is completely stripped and the engine and tranny are out.  Next up is to start on the engine and getting the body on the rotisserie.  Be sure to check out the picture galleries.  I'll be adding to them just about every week.

UPDATE (Friday, 11/13/09):  Gerty's restoration officially begins tomorrow.  I'll be taking her to Mr. Vernon Stephens, who will do the full restoration.  Additionally, he'll be teaching me along the way, so I'll be working on everything from disassembly, body work, rebuild, engine rebuild, and painting.  I can't wait to get started.  Mr. Bill Baker will be redoing the interior for me.  I'll post pictures of the restoration as it progresses.

"Gerty" is my family's 1964 Plymouth Valiant Signet 200 Convertible.  The car has a 225 c.i. "Super Six" and a push button 3-speed TorqueFlite automatic transmission.  We purchased her on March 11, 2009, had her transported down from Indiana.

Below are a couple of "before" pictures of Gerty.  As the restoration progresses, I'll post more updates and pictures to document her progress, so keep checking back.
