Beautiful day for a Cruise!
Don't let the big puffy clouds scare you......it won't rain!  If it does I will personally help you wipe the water off!  I expect some of you may be going to various 4th of July Celebrations tonight. But be certain we will be cruising! I hope to see y'all tonight!

WHERE WERE YOU?
From the size of the crowds I assume most of you stayed home worshiping the almighty weatherman!  Well news flash folks.......it never rained......there were pleanty of threats....but no rain. God what a great job...to be wrong 90% of the time and still collect a paycheck at the end of the week!  Now I did hear that Shrewsbury was rained out... and reports of rain in Churchville (for 1 hour)...but not in Abingdon...not at Lowes.
While at carlisle today we saw about 20 new Camaros. most tagged in Michigan...I guess all the big wheels got one to play with and thats why we can't find them at the dealerships! there were some custom ones with 575 HP! When we got to the cruise we had 2 brand new Camaros show up! There out there, and its gonna be neat seeing the ways people modify them over the next few years.
We managed to give out 5 - $50.00 Lowes gift cards. So I guess we still had a crowd of about 360 +or-.
Next Friday is July 3rd and I will be very busy getting ready for our annual 4th Party, so, I should be there but I dont know how big of a crowd we will get anyway. Alot of Towns are celebrating th 4th on that night. I will most likely get there later and leave early. So if you're not doing anything the cruise will still go on.
Tomorrow (Saturday & Sunday) is the Northeast Regional Chevelle show. Even if you don't own a Chevelle, but still like to see alot of them I reccomed you come by the Northeast Md waterfront park. There is no fee for spectators. There will be kids games, Vendor and food on site. This is a beautiful park and worth stopping by to see lots of cool Chevelles from all over the country in one place!
See ay Friday JBB

Maiden Voyage
Hopefully, if the rain doesn't appear, I will be bringing my recent aquisition to the cruise, a 1965 SS Chevelle.  She drips a little and squeeks a bit but she runs great! This is a busy weekend, we are going to the ALL GM show in Carlisle at 5:00am and plan to be back before the cruise friday afternoon. Then Saturday and Sunday we will be at Northeast Park for the Northeast regional Chevelle Show. (if you enjoy Chevelles, this is a great show, with Vendors present and a nice sized selection of used parts and pieces.) the show is free to spectators, and the town of Northeast has some cool shops and some great Seafood restaurants. Come on out!
Hope to see a lot of you tomorrow.

Were Famous now!
For those of you who recieve the Aegis Newspaper, you by now have read the article about the Lowes Cruise. There are a few misquotes but all in all it shines a very bright light on our humble cruise night. For those of you who don't recieve the paper, pick one up at the store and give it a good read.
I look forward to seeing all of you tonight, the weather is clear and the crowd should be great!   see ya JBB

Sweet Cruise
Finally we were able to get out the toys and cruise! We gave out the 100 dash plaques that were sponsored by a fellow cruisers wife for her husband. Donna wanted to honor her hubby Russ by putting both of their cars on a dash plaque! For those of you who were lucky enough to get one it featured her 1967 Mustang and his 1956 Chevy on an American flag background. Thanks again Donna! he was truly surprised.
We had close to 400 cars on what was a partly cloudy night. It started slow and ramped up very quickly. We gave out 6 $50.00 Lowes Gift cards. The Aegis' photographer was on hand taking tons of pictures for a future article on our cruise. Hopefully your car will be featured! Also felow cruiser Bill Ward was on hand to help try to bring back the Freewheeling feature that used to run in the Wednesday PP&T section of the Aegis paper. He has asked all of us cruisers to contact the paper editor to request the return of this feature. So i have supplied to you below a link to his email for us to send a friendly letter requesting him to bring the section back. My car was featured a few years ago when we started the Lowes Cruise. Itmade the paper worth opening on Wednesdays!
contact at Aegis is avought@theaegis.com

For those of you who are following the restoration of my ElCamino, I left the cruise Frdiay at 8:45pm and we were on the road to Tennessee to get the car back from the body shop by 9:10pm. After a blow out on the car trailer on RT66 20 miles outside of DC (spare tire in hand and no tools to remove the flat tire), luckily we found a garage and borrowed a 4 way wrench. Oh yea, the blowout completely tore the fender off the trailer! anyway we made it to Graveyard Run's shop at 10:00am. We loaded the truck, was given a spare tire for the ride home and were headed home by 12:00 pm.  Well somewhere in northern Tennessee we had another blowout! Good thing we had the spare, right? Yea, we still had no tools duh! this time we found a garage with some young guy atempting to install a tranny in his truck so he could go rac'n that night. Back on the road agin now with no spare! And guess what happened? You got it! another blowout! This has now become the trip from HELL... we nursed the rig up to exit 200  off Rt81 somewhere north of Roanoke. Its now 2:30am. We tried AAA and they dont do trailers! So we left the trailer at a McDonalds, drove to the next exit where the biggest damn truck stop I've ever seen is. And by god the shop is open! Well if we needed a 10.00x20 tractor trailer tire we would be done, but no....after searching the whole shop we find the only 15" tire in this massive garage, we buy it for $10, mount it to the spare, borrow a ratchet and socket and head back to trailer! We mount it, and head back to the truck stop to give the kid his tools back. (and get Jimmys $100 tool retainer back). Now were beat and do we try to go home or do we get a room, go to Walmart in the morning and buy 4 new trailer tires and do it safe?  No we figured were set, so we decided to go to the 24 hour Walmart buy a tire (oh yea, and a 4 way wrench )and find another truck stop mount the tire for a spare and go friggin home. Well we never did mount the tire on the spare and we did finally get home at 3:50 am....3 blown out tires......18 hours of driving.......laughing till you about piss yourself with some friends...priceless!   Well actually $320 in fuel, $200 in food, $400 in fireworks,  $10 in crappy tires...not so priceless!
To cap it off, this morning (Sunday) I decide to remove the straps from the Elky in the trailer and wait for help to get it out and in the garage. Well I must have knocked the chock out from under the front wheel went to the back released the last strap and the truck went flying out the back of the trailer, down the ramp and head right for my mailbox!  Wow, it just missed it....but then I realize the left side hit the steel cable that support the trailer door causeing a nice sized dent in front of the wheel well and scratches down  left side....crap!  Thank god it wasn't painted!.......Is someone trying to tell me something about this car?   More to follow....Hopefully better news. see ya JBB
