In 2006, Beth Joy Knutsen, her Bella Starlet Dog, and many friends made PAWstory bedazzling the crowd with the first-ever
dog float in the parade. Jeanne Fleming, the parade’s Artistic Director,
was so impressed with their creation that she has deemed Bella Starlet Dog as the official yearly animal float of the parade!! Lauren Johnston of AMNY documented Beth & Bella’s float creation: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AsN-z0HBZX8
This year’s sponsors again include:
www.BellaStarletDog.com, www.StreetTreats.com, www.WestVillageVets.com Beth Joy and her colleagues offer great services to NYC’s animal community and are
very well-respected.
We are honored to have many spectacular guests and shelter groups join us once again in promoting
animal advocacy and adoption in NYC. We will be live on NY1 starting at 8pm.

Hey Beth- Sig and I are still really new to SF but will keep you posted of any happenings here. The dog community in
SF is very different - no one really seems to attend any events or do anything much with their dogs other th ...

Bow Wow Wow and Ooh La La By Annamaria DiGiorgio
Move over, bunnies. Dogs took center stage on July 19 in Los Angeles at the famous Playboy Mansion, which hosted the 2nd
annual Bow Wow Wow celebrity fundraiser. Put on by Much Love Animal Rescue, the event raised more than $200,000 to aid adoptions
of homeless dogs.
In attendance were celebrities galore, including Tori Spelling, Jerry O'Connell, Kevin Nealon and Denise Richards, who
scored a Mollie Carrier by Lucy's Luxuries with her winning bid at the event's silent auction. Prizes up for grabs to the
highest bidder featured everything from gourmet dog treats to walk-on roles in major TV shows. Celebs walked the red carpet,
which was sponsored by Dog.com, posing for pictures with Much Love's adoptable dogs. Inside the event, guests mingled
over cocktails and hors d'oeurves around the mansion's pool and infamous Grotto, with the private zoo available nearby for
further exploration

Hi Beth Joy!!! I love you!! You were so sweet to us. Thanks for letting me kiss on Bella Starlett! She is
beautiful! Jude
Beth is ecstatic...the pilot recognizes Bella Starlet and runs back onto the plane to get his phone to take her picture...loves
it!!:)
I loved watching that show!!!! GAD. When you left I was pulling for the little Andrew
boy!! I am just partial to the smaller dogs. I was hooked on Bella though because she reminds me of my sassy.
Although sassy is a dark Brindle they have similar faces. Sassy is a shih-tzus yorkie mix. i just though Bella
did a phenominal job on the show. I felt so sorry for Bob?? The orange dog owner when she didn't fly. He
was so excited that he and his dog would fly together and I was pulling for her but I can understand why she didn't.
Sometimes those judges where really tough werent they!!
Are they going to have another show like this?? Also the links at the bottom of your email
do you own those sites?

Get your pet set for Halloween

Even these hard times can't keep the city's pooches from having a howlin'
good Halloween.
"Humor is always the best medicine, even in the worst of times," said Karen Ngo, a Brooklyn-based photographer, whose charming new book "Indognito" (Little, Brown and Company, $19.99) celebrates canines in drag.
"People can't help but grin when they see a dog in a costume," she said.
Among the whimsical canine portraits gracing the pages include a Chihuahua
matador, Doberman rabbit and Ngo's own dogs Emma and Martini as a winking genie and an angel.
Also featured are four adorable Chihuahuas in "The Wizard of Oz" garb. Owner
Ada Nieves, the city's diva of pet couture, hand-stitches their costumes for celebrations year-round (adanieves.com).
This week, "Team Chihuahua" will make its rounds to the city's bevy of pooch
parades and masquerade balls for tricks and treats as bees, and ladybugs and flowers, Nieves said.
Her latest creations, Miss Alaska 2008 - a bikini-clad maverick with a six
pack - and Chi-Obama, will also vie for top dog.
"It's a special day to have fun with your friends and dogs," she said.
Animal experts warn to keep in mind that not every animal fares well in costume.
If so, make sure it's a good fit. Also keep pets away from chocolate, candy wrappers, large crowds and fireworks.
Here is a partial listing of Halloween fetes around the five boroughs. Many
of the events will help raise money for needy animals. Check the Web sites for rain dates.
If you're uptown, don't miss the Doggie Halloween Party at the 72nd St. Dog Run in Riverside Park today, from noon to 3p.m. (www.rspfloral.org).
On Staten Island, the Wolfes Pond Park seventh annual Pooch Parade, at Cornelia, Holton and Luten
Aves., will be from noon to 3 p.m. today.
Tomorrow, from noon to 4 p.m., creativity will be on display at the city's
outlandish 18th annual Tompkins Square Halloween Dog Parade in the East Village. This year, hundreds of dogs in duds will
be competing for more than $5,000 in prizes for Best in Show, Best Owner & Dog Costume and Best Trick.
Admission is $5 (www.firstrunfriends.org).
Van Cortlandt Park Howl-O-Ween festivities will take place tomorrow at Canine
Court, Broadway and 252nd St., in the Bronx from noon to 2p.m.(www.nycgov-parks.org).
On Monday, Animal Fair magazine will host its eighth annual Halloween Pet
Costume Party benefiting the Humane Society of New York. Editor and America's Greatest Dog judge Wendy Diamond and other celebrities will crown one lucky pooch as Most Petacular Halloween
Costume. The fun begins at 7 p.m. at Mansion, 530 W. 28th St. (www.animalfair.com).
On Thursday, at 7 p.m., Bobbi and the Strays will hold its annual Halloween
fund-raiser at Russo's on the Bay in Howard Beach. This year, the money raised will go toward securing a new shelter.

This Friday, the Animals Love NYC float celebrating the city's needy and rescued
