Puppy Paws Inc., a Pittsburgh-based jewelry designer, has collaborated with Beth Joy Knutsen and herCocker Spaniel-Poodle mix Bella Starlet, of CBS’ “Greatest American Dog,” to create a new jewelry collection for dogs and
their owners.
The Soulmates: Mom & Me! Collection features two designs: a heart-shaped pendant with an interconnected paw charm
and a glass star drop pendant with a paw charm. A larger-sized pendant is available for owners and a smaller, collar clip-on
is offered for dogs.
“It’s for people who love their animals as family members not just as pets, and I think that’s what
it conveys — true love,” Knutsen said.
Knutsen said the inspiration for the collection was none other than her “soul mate” Bella Starlet and the
close relationship they share.
“Bella is my soul mate, and I was trying to think of a way to express that in jewelry and it just came to me —
the heart and the paw,” Knutsen recalled. “That’s the best way I can describe in jewelry how we are intertwined.”
A portion of the proceeds will go toPilots N Paws, an online message board where pilots can access information about dogs who need to be transported from overcrowded shelters,
where they face being euthanized, to rescue groups and shelters with available space

scored an astounding 94 out of 100...the results indicated "your dog is smarter than you."!!:)
Beth Joy graduated with honors from Columbia College in Chicago with a
bachelor’s degree in Music, Theatre and Dance. She currently works as Bella Starlet’s “Stage Mom/Manager.”
She has devoted her life to promoting her dog’s professional career (she has a tattoo of Bella Starlet on her leg).
In addition, she is a freelance writer, animal publicist and animal event planner. Beth Joy is a former Elaine (character
from “Seinfeld”) impersonator.
Beth Joy describes herself as eclectic, witty and charismatically creative.
She and Bella Starlet enjoy bike riding, swimming and running on the cranberry bogs of Cape Cod. In 2006, Bella Starlet’s
“Howl-O-Ween” float made “pawstory” as the first-ever dog float for New York City’s Village
Halloween Parade (they got to open for Kiss). They continue to participate every year to promote animal advocacy and adoption.
Beth Joy hosts yearly “Barkday Pawties” for Bella Starlet themed “Celebrate the Starlet” for Bella
Starlet’s birthdays where all guests receive her real PAWtograph in a silver charm. Beth Joy’s motto is “Age
is just a number, bliss equals youth.” and “No rain, no rainbows!”
Beth Joy currently resides in
New York City. She has five additional dogs and cats (Beastie, Olive, Oscar, Riff and Amber). Her birth date is October 6,
1975.
BELLA STARLET
Bella Starlet is a fabulous 10 year-young mutt who sometimes goes by the nicknames
“Bella Bear,” “Cuddle Muffin,” “Puppy Monkey,” “Care Bear” and “Baby
Girl.” She is proficient in both English and French commands. She enjoys prancing down red carpets where she impresses
the paparazzi with her jump-turns. She loves going to the salon to get her hair beaded and braided. Her daily routine always
begins with Doga. She enjoys downtime on her customized, monogrammed couch.
Bella Starlet is definitely a city dog
who is often dressed in costume (she has customized outfits, including her Marilyn Monroe dress and Statue of Liberty costume).
Bella Starlet is a professional dog actress, having done commercials (including a Superbowl ad for Dr. Pepper and promos for
HBO and Bravo), feature films and magazine covers. Her independent film, “CasaBella,” was picked up by two film
festivals that were held last summer. She also writes a column for City Pet Guide titled “Life of A Celebupup”
and New York Tails’ “Tails About Town.”

adopt their pets instead of kids! Meet Beth Joy Knutsen and her husband, who live in Manhattan and their six "children: three
dogs and three cats. They have founded what some might call an unusual "family" by adopting animals that Beth cherishes just
as if they were her own kids - and that's no exaggeration. When asked if they have children, both of them answer positively,
referring to their animals as "our kids."
Beth even anthropomorphizes her little dog by speaking with Bella Starlet's
"voice", saying: "We are on this planet Earth to help all vulnerable creatures. This is the work and the passion of our life.
Nothing brings us more happiness. Mom and I have saved each other's life, and we shall be sister souls forever, " says Bella.
The
couple even have tattoos on their legs near their ankles dedicated to their three dogs, Bella Starlet, Oscar, and Riff with
the first names of their adored "children"! In addition, the couple also owns three cats, among them a pretty tabby named
