Let It Shine!

"You will receive power when the Holy Spirit on you and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea an dSamaria, and to the ends of the earth" (Acts 1:8).

Let It Shine!

The little lamp set on a shelf;

Although it could not shine,

He knew that it was his purpose

And a part of his design.

But he couldn’t understand it,

Just why he could not glow,

For the other lamps around him

 Their bright lights would always show.

One day he asked the other lamps,

“Why do you brightly shine?

“What must I do, may I ask you,

To release this light of mine?”

They said, “Now it is quite simple:

Just plug into God’s pow’r;

You’ll release the light within you

To dispel the darkest hour.

“Though God gave you the potential,

When planning your design,

He said you must receive His pow’r

To illuminate and shine.”

The little lamp said, “Plug me in!”

Let God’s pow’r flow through me

To release His light within me

So His love the world may see.”

He felt God’s pow’r begin to flow,

His light illuminate.

Together with the “Light of lights”

His began to celebrate.

Rejoicing in his fav’rite song,

“This Little Light of Mine,”

The little lamp now loudly sang,

“Let it shine, Lord, let it shine!”
