Dancing in the Desert
A roadway
through the desert, Lord,
Are you
sure I must go there?
I’d
rather take the broader path
Through
rich pastures green and fair.
The sun
is hot that’s beating down;
There’s
no trees to lend their shade.
I’d
rather go where waters flow
And where
cooler paths are laid.
God said,
“Trust me, I know what’s best;
I will
always walk with you.
And though
it seems unpleasant now,
I promise
to see you through."
“For
in the desert you will dance;
You will
lift your voice and sing.
And you
will drink from desert springs;
Cool refreshment
I will bring.
“The
easy way is not the best;
There
are times when you must go
Through
desert fields where you must trust,
Though
it’s difficult I know.
“When
you have reached the other side,
You will
look back then and say,
‘In
the desert I learned to dance
With the
grace of God each day.’ ”
“I
found that as I walked with God
He answered
my ev’ry prayer,
And I
could dance on desert sands
In God’s
arms of love and care.
