The Miniature Figure Collectors of America (MFCA) was founded in 1941 by a group of hobbiests in the Philadelphia area.
It is a group interested in miniature figures of all sizes depicting characters from history with emphasis on those from military
history but not exclusively. The types of figures run from the classic toy soldiers to exquisitely painted and sculpted connoisseur
figures. The sizes range from an inch to about one foot. Topics range from prehistoric beasts through ancient times of Greeks
and Romans through the colorful middles ages to the wars of lace and the Napoleonic wars. The history of the United States
is well represented with figures from the Civil War the Revolution and modern wars. Figures of fiction and legend are also
to be seen.
To promote this hobby the MFCA for many years has run a show and marketplace. Currently held in May at the Valley Forge
Convention Center just outside of Philadelphia this two day annual event draws over fifteen hundred people from all over the
world to buy and sell and to display their craftsmanship for prizes.
The MFCA meets monthly con-jointly with the Delaware Valley Scale Modelers on the first Friday of every month at about
8 PM at the Artisan Hall on Roosevelt Boulevard in Northeast Philadelphia.
There are a number of similar clubs in the United States and around the world and links are given for some of them.
