Mission
To provide safe harboring of avian species in the Order Psittaciformes, Families Cacatuidae,
Loriidae, and Psittacidae; to maintain a foster home for unwanted, sick, or otherwise displaced or homeless birds of those
species and operate an adoption service; to educate the public about the proper care, maintenance, natural origins and habitat,
and scientific nomenclature and classification of those species. To provide a parrot adoption service to qualified adoptees.
Profile
Feathered Friends Parrot Adoption Services, Inc., formerly Maspeth Bird Haven, Inc. was
founded in December, 2004, and is a registered New York State Not-for-Profit Corporation, with IRS 501(c)(3) status.
We
truly care about Psittacines, and will foster parrots in a friendly, clean, and stimulating environment. We are extremely
dedicated towards this endeavor.
Although members of several organizations that promote breeding of birds, we do not advocate breeding parrots,
except for scientific purposes and by recognized zoological/ornithological organizations, for the purpose of repopulation and
conservation of species in the wild.

What We Provide
*A safe, clean, and happy environment
for fostered avian friends.
*Lots of toys and the
best of healthy foods for avian friends awaiting placement.
*Sharing
knowledge and experience with other rescue organizations, avian biologists and experts, and quick access to a local avian
veterinarian and two emergency veterinarian hospitals.
*We
will ONLY place the bird given up for adoption with a qualified new guardian. We will NEVER place a bird with
an unexperienced guardian.
*Feathered
Friends encourages you to try to adopt birds...there are plenty of birds available for adoption in the Tri-State area, with
about six active parrot rescue/adoption organizations, including ours. If you cannot find the bird of choice right away,
be patient. In the meanwhile, LEARN all that you can about the species of choice BEFORE you
adopt. When it comes time, make that feathered friend a PERMANENT, INTEGRAL part of your home forever!
