| THE boat . the original pirate vessel |

|
This is a classic shot of our original boat. It was a steel working row boat. Built in 1928 in Wilmington Delaware.
It was built by the Thomas Drein and Son company. It wasa designed as a lifeboat. It was completed on July 31 1928. The
hull was made of steel and the keel, gunnels, bow, transom and benches were made of wood.It was suited to carry 11 people in
the river or 9 in bay or sound service. Originally it measured 14 feet 5 inches.
I am using the past tense in the above paragragh since the boat is now gone. It had been in Captn Mitch's
yard since we encountered 2 gapping holes in the side. A repair detail was scheduled b never acted apon. The new boat aquisition
was in essence a "kiss of death" to the original pirate boat. A few weeks back a landscaper was next door to the Captn's
house and inquired about the boat. He had all the making of a potential pirate and asked Mitch about the boat. The Captn
sized him up and told him he would get back to him about the boats status. Phone calls were made and it was decided that the
best thing for the boat was to turn it over to a new owner. The new owner promised to repair it and take Mitch out on the
river. Maybe the boat will yet visit the island and it's original crew some day.

| the final damage report of the Pirate boat |
The final damage to the Pirate boat. A pair of nuts and bolts were used to patch two severe holes in the lower rear of
the hull. Otherwise it was a tremendous steel boat. Painted with many coats of Rustoleum and cheap gold trim paint, and of
course tar. Lots of tar, be careful where you lean if you're wearing that favorite babyblue birdsegg colored suit jacket.
You could use some gas to remove the tar.
