The Attorney General
has made a finding of no criminal conduct or intent in the matter of Sheriff Nau paying deputies’ cash for duties preformed
at a DUI check point earlier this year.
I do NOT agree
with their determination and I have heard from numerous citizens in Centre County,
they do not agree either. What Sheriff Nau did was wrong and against County Code, federal,
state and local wage laws. I believe this is just another of an ongoing pattern
of bending and breaking the law whenever he sees fit.
I would ask the Centre
County Controllers Office to do their own investigation including an audit of the Sheriff’s Office Books.
When law enforcement
is operating above the law, it is time for a change! The Citizens of Centre County
will have an opportunity to make that change on November 6 and make their own findings as to whether he broke the law or not. This is also a break of the public’s trust in government.
I have the experience,
accountable reforms and attitude of service needed to bring the Sheriff’s Office back to a place of respect and integrity.
As Sheriff, I will NOT
continue these types of practices and will follow all laws.
I ask the voters on November 6th to decide.
Respectfully submitted
Doug Kalmbach
Republican Candidate for Centre County Sheriff
